Eli Wasserman
COMPOSER & EDUCATOR
BEHIND THE SCENES WITH ELI WASSERMAN
Exploring a combination of performance and education, Eli Wasserman focuses on the importance of listening to and learning from today’s youth both in and out of practice rooms and concert halls. As a student composer, music director, and educator, Eli brings his own enthusiasm for the arts to camps, schools, and student groups around the world. His music has been performed in places such as Austria, Interlochen Arts Camp, Johns Hopkins, and Princeton University, and his recent works have focused on issues plaguing students in the education system, human connection, and the way people interact with one another.
His involvement in music does not stop at the double barline as he continues to volunteer and teach at Camp Schodack and in public school systems. After leading music classes at HomeFront, a homelessness shelter for families in Central New Jersey, Eli began working towards integrating arts programs into schools serving a lower-income population. Eli believes that the arts should not be a privilege for those who can afford it, but a necessity in every human’s life as a medium of personal expression and emotional release.
